Demolition Derby Week!
One of Detroit's challenges is the abundance of abandoned homes left in the city. Our partners in the Brightmoor neighborhood particularly can use help from time to time in deconstructing abandoned homes that have become a danger for children in the community.
During Demolition Derby week, groups that opt in to these projects will participate in safe and supervised demolition work which will help communities do new things in reclaimed spaces of the city. Plus, they will extract reusable materials to keep them out of landfills. (Other groups interested in attending this week and doing more typical home repair projects are welcome to register also, just let us know your preference in the comments section.)
